Many healthcare organisations are now addressing the social and environmental impacts of their activities, but as yet have not found a way for clinical staff to contribute to this. SAP uses two facilitated workshops to help staff learn about sustainable healthcare, identify their priorities and draw up an action plan. Both workshops are designed to run over two hours.
Sample slides to use in Workshop 1. Edit the slides to make them relevant to your team, using the feedback collected from the pre-questionnaire. Don't use all the slides! Be selective, you can leave out examples, etc, which are not relevant to your unit.
The pre-questionnaire is designed to collect the views of team members to help with planning Workshop 1. The facilitator may wish to fill in the date, time and venue of the workshop and their contact details before giving out the questionnaire to the team.
Once you're team is up and running and the action plan is producing results, you can plot your progress on the climate change and carbon reduction matrix to see where you are on your sustainability journey.
